In summer 2009 I made my first visit to the Swedish Covenant Church’s archive in Stockholm in order to explore the material written in Eastern Turki found in various locations in the archive. Here I also met the keeper of the archives, Mrs. Katarina Thurell who generously demonstrated the material to me. In fall 2010 I received a phone call from Mrs. Thurell who informed me about a possible project within a bigger project. My part in the project would be to systematize and create a catalogue.

This catalogue contains the literature produced by Swedish missionaries in Xinjiang, China between the years 1892-1938. In recent years this material which in many respects may be considered unique has gained increasing recognition among the international community of scholars. These prints are commonly referred to as Prints from Kashghar which also is the title of the prominent Swedish scholar Gunnar Jarring’s publication from 1991. Apart from the Kashghar Prints, the catalogue also includes material such as scholarly publications about the region, various manuscript in Turki, school tests, letters, ancient hand scripts in Turki (Chaghatay) Arabic and Persian material, books written by the missionaries in Swedish and and so forth. I would like to highlight the reader that during the course of my work at the archive I have “rediscovered” four publications including a calendar which up to now have been considered “lost”. According to the information found in PFK no copy has been preserved of the following publications. I am happy to say that they now have been “rediscovered”.
