Dear Friends in Faith of Christ,
A total of 39 people were confirmed dead and 9 remain missing on Wednesday 20th of August 2014 after a series of landslides and flooding triggered by torrential rain overnight engulfed residential areas in Hiroshima, western Japan. Hiroshima Peace Christ Church of Japan Baptist Union is at the center area of this terrible disaster. The church building had endured through the night and Rev. Otani and his family was all safe and they can stay at church. Almost of the lifelines, electric power, gas, water had come back alive, but in that local area over 1000 people are staying at public shelters to avoid the danger of another landslide at this moment. Hiroshima Peace Christ Church’s building was surrounded thick sediment and dirt, and cannot go out and walk easily. One house of church member’s at neighbour ward had been got serious damage of sediment. They need a quick treatment and help. Some volunteers of JBU had been sent already and now they are at work.
Many tears and compassion for Hiroshima and tons of prayers we need now. Our Lord, please give your holy arms to those who lost their children, mothers, fathers, sisters and brothers.
